STAR Reflection #2

Situation:  Week 5 assignment was to begin the creation of my ePortfolio.  This assignment is an establishment showing basic information that I can communicate digitally to an employer and what I have to offer to be a great employee.  Version 1 of the ePortfolio assignment begins with the opening title page, including my name, a memorable headline communicating who I am, and a professional-looking headshot. In addition to an about me page, and an uploaded resume.

Task:  The task was to begin searching the right site building company for my project. Initially I read the full assignment description, in the modules for my class, the assignment gives clear instructions of how to begin. I began using my critical thinking skills, to come up with ideas and help set a clearer picture as to what an ePortfolio consists of.  Attached to week 5 assignment are instructions and the link to, https://www.wix.com, This is a website that allows you to begin building your own personal site.

Action:   At the top right of the www.wix.com site, there is an option to get started in creating your website, I chose and created a log in. This allowed me to begin creating my ePortfolio.  Once I was finally able to establish my domain name for the ePortfolio.  My domain is, https://jennlynn350.wixsite.com/jennsbeautywithin. I reviewed multiple templates that were available. I chose layouts that I felt would suit properly for my ePortfolio.  I shared my creativity by adding a picture of the sky I took. The first vision an employer will see is the headshot, and my about me.  And my objective in the ePortfolio and briefing my intentions with working for a company.  I utilized the enhancement offered to format my colors brightly in the ePortfolio.  I utilized a separate notepad, Microsoft word and One Note to help write down and organize my thoughts as I was working the ePortfolio, even though my notes were a little messy. My idea with beginning the ePortfolio creating the digital design my notes will help put this into a more organized neater creation.  I reviewed my resume I had worked on throughout the course and made some edits to the wording of my resume.  However, my resume is still in need of editing.  The task in creating my ePortfolio, has a separate section that is “Portfolio”.  However, this was not the requirement for the beginning of the assignment, this allowed me to kind of get ahead, and understand how the ePortfolio works.

Result:  Overall, my actions were successful in the creation of the assignment requested for Week 5.  I was nervous at first, in starting this new creation.  And now I am highly excited and want to create more. Not only is this a great communication tool for employers.  But for classmates and others as well.  Creating a space to reflect on myself as much as possible professionally and personally, was a great assignment allowing my creativity and organization to reflect to others.  In the process of starting my ePortfolio, I have designated an area to form a blog, furthermore.  The blog is called BeautyIsWithin.  My idea is to start a demonstration of wellness and inspiration.
